GL1000 - the Masterpiece1975 HONDA GOLD WINGA Labor of Love…Most of this GL1000’s history has been lost to the sands of time. Here’s what the PO provided: This bike was last tagged in Minnesota in 1994. At some point, it was parked because of a drive train issue. Sometime later, the original owner moved to Texas. The bike was moved, and stored in his barn. At the time, doubt they ever dreamed that it would sit, covered, for the next 26 years. In early 2020, PO purchased the bike. It did not run, but the engine turned over freely. He registered, titled and tagged it - as an antique. Then the work began. This GL1000 has been touched head to toe, with meticulous care. This build time/parts cost over 00 to get her to this condition.
Here’s a list of exhaustive work performed, for your delight.

There were dozens of other minor things done, like finding the little cables that hold the faux tank sides, finding a rear grab rail, replacement turn signal lens, left mirror, etc.
The only known issues are:
1. The bike is cold blooded - all of them were. Best to get it started with choke and ride off nursing it, rather than trying to warm it up. (Always use the petcock!) Also, it idles roughly even when warm, because of the race-bread “radical” cams. Honda began de-tuning the GL1000 in 1978, a trend that continued through the 80’s - leading to the icy smooth, if uninspiring, boxers of the later era.
2. The bike smokes a little bit on cold start - they all did.

3. The speedometer needle is slow to rise and slow to return. These are the original clocks, and PO thought it was worth living with this minor problem rather than replacing them and ruining the endearing & rustic originality.
This bike is ready to take on a long ride, Its a absolute rider! More pictures and video if needed upon request.
